Ideal for subway cars, light rail vehicles and more, Whiting railcar products can be customized to fit your unique project. Many constructions are available to fit the specific needs of your application, including plymetal, honeycomb, and composite panel sets. Our engineering and design staff work closely with our customers to ensure that our products are built and tested according to customer specifications and industry standards.

Honeycomb Railcar Interiors

  • Manufactured in accordance NFPA-130 Standard requirements
  • Hot pressed panels ensure best adhesion in the industry
  • Common cores include aluminum and stainless steel honeycombs
  • Common facings include decorative laminate, aluminum melamine, painted aluminum, and painted stainless steel
  • Honeycomb interior panels can be used for: railcar ceilings, cab walls, doors, partition assemblies, wind screens, desktop panels, and more.

Plymetal Railcar Interiors

  • Meet Climbing Drum Test D1781 bond requirements
  • Meet fire and smoke requirements of E-119 fire test, as well E-84, E-162 and E662 tests
  • Primarily used for railcar subflooring
  • 304 Stainless steel skins available from .016 to .040
  • 7 ply premium grade Group 1 Douglas Fir plywood is commonly used for core material, but other plywood options are available
  • Edges can be hermetically sealed with fireproof sealant, or soldered to form fully encased panels
  • Both shiplapped and straight joints are available.
